Working copy
The data used by the current workstation.
Business data becomes valuable gradually, but recovery is usually tested only when something goes wrong. Make backup part of the normal working routine.
A useful backup should cover the data required to continue working, not just a single exported invoice or a screenshot of a report.
The data used by the current workstation.
A recent backup that is easy to restore quickly.
A copy kept separately so a workstation failure does not remove both the original and the backup.
If losing one week of work would be unacceptable, weekly backup is not sufficient. Choose a routine based on the amount of change in your business.
Periodically verify that the backup can be read and restored. Do this especially before workstation migration, major Windows changes or a significant application upgrade.
Installation, workstation changes and business-data migration are safer when a recent recovery point already exists.
